A brushless motor, also known as a brushless DC motor, is a driving device that converts electrical energy into mechanical energy. The following is a detailed analysis of brushless motors:


1、 Definition and Classification

Definition: Brushless motor is a type of motor that uses electronic commutators instead of traditional mechanical commutators and brushes to convert electrical energy into mechanical energy.

Classification: Brushless motors can be further classified into multiple types based on their power supply and control methods, but essentially all follow the same brushless commutation principle.

2、 Working principle

The working principle of brushless motors can be summarized as follows:

Electronic commutation: By controlling the current direction of the stator winding through electronic switching devices (such as MOSFETs), the motor can be commutated to drive the rotor to rotate.

Position detection: A position sensor (such as a Hall sensor) is installed inside the motor to detect the position of the rotor and accurately control the direction of the current.

Self controlled operation: The brushless motor operates in a self controlled manner and can automatically adjust current and torque according to changes in load and speed, achieving stable operation.

3、 Structural characteristics

Rotor and stator: The rotor of a brushless motor is a permanent magnet, while the stator is a winding coil. This is opposite to traditional brushed motors, where the rotor is a winding coil and the stator is a permanent magnet.

Electronic speed controller: Brushless motors need to be used in conjunction with electronic speed controllers, which convert DC power into three-phase AC power and control the motor's speed and torque.

Efficient and durable: Due to the absence of mechanical commutator and brush friction and wear, brushless motors have higher efficiency and lifespan than traditional brushed motors.
