1、 Basic Composition

The two-phase open-loop stepper motor (brake type) is mainly composed of a stator, rotor, electromagnetic coil, and brake device. The stator is covered with electromagnetic coils, which generate a magnetic field when current passes through; The rotor contains multiple pole pairs, usually made of magnetic materials. The braking device is a key component used to lock the rotor position when the motor stops running.

2、 Working principle

Step control: Similar to ordinary two-phase open-loop stepper motors, when the current passes through the electromagnetic coil in sequence, the generated magnetic field will attract the magnetic poles in the rotor, causing the rotor to rotate at a certain angle in steps. The angle and speed of this step rotation can be precisely adjusted by controlling the frequency and number of pulse signals.

Braking mechanism: The braking device usually works through mechanical or electromagnetic means. When the motor is running normally, the brake device is in a released state and does not affect the rotation of the rotor. When the motor needs to be stopped or powered off, the braking device will quickly respond, locking the rotor position to prevent it from moving due to external forces or inertia.
